Vice President Joe Biden’s wife Jill Biden has been hired as an adjunct professor at Northern Virginia Community College’s Alexandria Campus.

A teacher for more than 28 years in Delaware Public Schools and at Delaware Technical and Community College, Biden will be teaching two classes: developmental English and English as a second language.

“I am thrilled to return to the classroom to continue working with community college students, whom I greatly admire and enjoy teaching,” Biden told NBC 4. “I have always believed in the power of community colleges to endow students with critical life skills, and I am pleased that I can make a difference by doing what I love to do, teaching people who are excited to learn.”

Biden has a doctorate in education and two master’s degrees in both English and reading.

“I commend Ms. Biden for choosing to stay within the community college setting,” commented one reader on NBC’s website. “The … decision speaks volumes about her character. With her newly attained status, she could have ventured out into the big leagues … but she seems to be looking to have a greater impact in a smaller setting.”
