Gillespie to address Alexandria Young Republicans

Republican Party of Virginia Chairman Ed Gillespie will be addressing the Alexandria Young Republicans at their February meeting at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, February 5 at Murphy's Irish Pub, 713 King Street, in Old Town.  

"We are excited that Chairman Gillespie is bringing his leadership and vision he showed at the RNC in 2004 to the Republican Party of Virginia.  He recognizes the importance of young professionals in the party and the Young Republicans are excited to hear more about how they can contribute to the growth and success of the Republican Party," said Brenda Hankins, chairman of the Alexandria Young Republicans. 

Hankins added, "The Alexandria Young Republicans are an amazing group of committed and energetic young professionals in Northern Virginia. We are excited to hear Chairman Gillespie's vision for the party, and ready to offer him our wholehearted support in advancing Republican principles for the good of Virginia and the future of our nation."  

The Alexandria Young Republicans is comprised of politically active Republicans between the ages of 18 and 40, residing in Alexandria, Virginia.  The club is committed to preserving Republican principles, supporting GOP candidates, discussing and engaging in the political process, and socializing with other right-minded young adults, and having fun in the process.  The Alexandria Young Republicans endeavor to cultivate a group of enthusiastic individuals who come from all walks of life, but still share the fundamental idea that the goals of the Republican Party are right for Alexandria, Northern Virginia, the Commonwealth and the United States. Ed Gillespie is one of the most prominent and successful strategists in the Republican Party.  He served as Chairman of the Republican National Committee (RNC) for the 2004 election cycle.  He was the first RNC Chairman in 80 years to preside over the re-election of a Republican president while retaining Republican majorities in both the House and Senate.  In recognition of these efforts, National Review magazine called Mr. Gillespie an "indispensable member of the triumphant troika under Bush" (along with campaign manager Ken Mehlman and White House strategist Karl Rove).
